Korea switched from 6-digit to 5-digit postal codes in 2015. When entering a ZIP Code on overseas shopping sites, always use the 5-digit number. This guide explains how to find and use a Korean postal code.
The 5-digit format
Since August 2015, Korea uses a unified 5-digit postal code. Enter the 5 digits as-is in the ZIP/Postal Code field. The old 6-digit codes no longer work.
How to find a Korean postal code
Search any address with the Korean address converter and the postal code appears automatically in the result. Copy it from the ZIP Code field.
Entering it on shopping sites
- ZIP / Postal Code → enter the 5 digits (e.g., 06234)
- If a ZIP+4 format is required → 06234-0000
- If only a 6-digit field exists → enter the 5 digits anyway
Example postal codes by region
- Gangnam-gu, Seoul: 06### range
- Mapo-gu, Seoul: 04### range
- Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do: 16### range
- Busan: 46###–49### range

What if I don't know the postal code?
Just search the address — the converter retrieves the postal code automatically from official data.
